Mariah flies economy on her own terms

Mariah outsmarts producersTalk about not being willing to cut back. Singer Mariah Carey was asked to travel by economy class to cut costs on her latest flick ‘Tennessee’ and the singer did just that, but in a fashion that could only be expected out of a diva such as herself.

Apparently, the movie is being made “on a shoestring budget,” so Mariah was asked to fly down to the filming location with the rest of the commoners in the economy cabin. According to the Baltimore Sun, those who knew her just about fainted, saying, “She’ll never do that!”

She sure proved those people wrong. In an act that only Mariah would go through with, the singer bought every single seat and flew alone in the economy cabin. Talk about showing the movie producers who makes the rules! We can only assume that Mariah ended up footing the bill, but it surely must have felt like money well spent to the star.

Obsessed over Mariah?According to an interview in the upcoming edition of Playboy magazine, Mariah claims that Eminem is “obsessed” with her and is not sure why.

After a rumored fling was leaked to the press, Mariah denied having a fling with the bad-boy rapper, which didn’t impress Eminem.

In the recent interview reported by AHN, the singer has begun to question what could be wrong with the newly divorced hip-hop star.

Hits newsstands Feb. 9thMariah will appear on the March 2007 cover of Playboy magazine in a skimpy skin-colored bathing suit. The singer surely made some money to spend with her credit cards for the shoot...but is there an ulterior motive?

The chart-topping singer posed for the men’s magazine to accompany a feature on the “Sexiest Comeback” for which she provides answers to 20 “revealing” questions.

Media reports speculated the star would be making an appearance in Playboy and photos from the shoot were leaked online this past week.

The show, which crowns winners based on cingular cell phone fan votes, has been a television favorite for the past 5 years.

The move to get Mariah makes a lot of sense, seeing that “Idol” judge Randy Jackson happens to be Mimi’s longtime friend and collaborator. He says they have "tossed it around a bit" but have yet to confirm her appearance.

Media puppet?What a wonderful world which we live in. In a recent interview, Mariah, wearing thick lip gloss, gushed that she believes the media decides what is sexy and she has always just gone along with what she has been exposed to.

The singer explained: “I think that a lot of women are just trying to live up to the stereotypes and to the standard that's set on TV and in print media, which is airbrushed women who weigh three pounds. And it's not fair. It's not easy. But everybody gets really protective of me. They're like, 'Be less sexy'.” Mariah has been known to try different diets, along with stints in pilates, yoga, and other exercise routines.

Mariah plans move to Aspen, Colorado

Colorado-bound Carey!!!After spending the last ten Christmas’ in Aspen, Colorado, Mariah has finally decided its time to move into the neighborhood. Despite the fact that Mariah can’t ski or snowboard, the songstress visits the ski resort every holiday. Meanwhile local stores are scrambling to add their name to her expectedly gigantic list of new credit card purchases.

Carey told AspenPeak magazine (a local magazine near where she stays), "I really would like to have a place in Aspen one day. I'm a very specific person. I built the place where I live now, and I've built places before. I kind of like things to be exactly how I like them. We know what that process takes… a billion years and a billion dollars!"

Mariah is vigorously attempting to stop porn star-turned politician Mary Carey from trademarking her similar sounding stage name, saying that fans could get the two performers confused.

But the adult film actress, whose real name is Mary Cook, said that she will not be intimidated by the international superstar and will press forward with her trademark application.

"I'm ready to battle Mariah over this because I've been Mary Carey for a long time," she said.

"It's kind of funny because I'm a porn star and I've been being myself for a long time. I think she's being silly."

Two New Discs For Mariah in '07

Get your iTunes cards ready and your i pods hooked up! Mariah is slated to release two CDs in 2007, according to Universal Music Group Chief Executive Doug Morris.

Mariah's release of The Emancipation of Mimi was the top grossing CD of 2005 for the French-owned media group and fed consumer anticipation for her future recordings.

"I think that next year we're going to have our best year," Morris said at the Reuters Media Summit in New York. "I think our revenues and our profits will be the best we've ever had."

Carey's two as-yet-untitled scheduled releases along with releases from both 50 Cent and Eminem are expected to be the benchmark for success for the music group in 2007.

Get out your PDAs, Sprint phones, and on your Verizon DSL. A fur coat is missing and needs to be found! A $7,500 fur that Mariah Carey reportedly sent to the needy in Mongolia is lost, says animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

"After (Carey) received two floor-length minks from a rich admirer, she resealed the box and sent them to PETA," a spokesman for the group told Reuters. "One coat was on its way ... to Switzerland -- where it was to be included in a sealed container bound for Mongolia as part of a worldwide fur-coat drive in conjunction with the Swiss Animal Protection Society. But the coat never arrived."
